Subject: Need your input: USARA Qualifier.. interest?

Date: 2008-01-30 13:43

Hi BAARBD Folks -

I'm trying to get some data points from new and experienced racers in
regards to the value you see in having one or two NORCAL-AR events being a
USARA Regional Qualifier. As you may know, the USARA has a yearly
"Nationals" race and you need to "qualify" by finishing in the top-3 of any
regional qualifying event. There are many of these throughout the US.

To be a Regional Qualifier, all race participants need to be USARA members (
i.e. $8 additional fee for the single event or $35 for a yearly membership).
Plus, you need to fill out a quick form at registration with your info (to
be provided to the USARA).

*1)* Are you more or less interested (or don't care) in an event if it is
considered a USARA Qualifier?

*2)* If you are not a USARA member already, do the additional fees impact
your decision to register for an event?

*3)* If you finished in the top-3 and are invited to the USARA Nationals,
how likely are you to go (Georgia, Nov. 7-8) to participate in the 24-hour
race even if a small portion (about $600 of the $1000) of your entry fee is
covered? Note: You would still need to fund your own travel and other costs.

You don't need to provide lenghty answers. Your input is valuable. Please
email back to me when you get a chance. Thanks!
