June's Mountain-O event will be dedicated to all of the NorCal racers
heading to Montana for PQ. PQ is about mountains, we hear. There is still
snow in the high Sierra, but I found an alpine area at a slightly lower
elevation where a westerly exposure has helped the melting process and the
snow is largely gone already. This area is incredibly scenic, sprinkled
with small lakes, some coniferous forest, and lots of granite slab and
rolling open country.and some rugged mountain terrain as well. It is less
than a 3 hrs drive from the bay area, and is pretty close to Hwy 80 between
Auburn and Truckee, in the Tahoe National Forest. iRule, one of the few
clothing companies dedicated to adventure racing, is this month's event
sponsor and will be providing the raffle prizes.

Combine this "trek-only" event with a long mountain bike at Yuba gap, or the
Auburn Confluence area, and you have a perfect PQ prep.

And for those of us who are NOT going to PQ.come out and experience the
sub-alpine Sierra at its finest, when creeks are flowing. This time, we
    will have three course options:

    -Long course (7-12 hours)

    -Short Course (4-7 hrs)

    -"Marked" Course (3-6 hrs)

This last option is new, and an exciting addition to our two standard 'O'
courses. When you choose the "Marked" course, you will receive a GPS route
in your e-mail that you can upload into your GPS unit. You will also
receive a map with the "marked course". Set your GPS to follow the route,
and it will guide you through the entire course. Who might be interested in
    this option? People who.

-Want to learn to navigate, but want a "plan B" if they get lost

-Want to just enjoy an "adventure run/trek" in a beautiful area, without the
    navigation element

This is a terrific way for beginners to ease their way into the navigational
    challenges of adventure racing.

More information about the June event will soon be available on the
    TrackMe360 Events Blog.
